Haverigg & St James' Tangible Support

For more than a year now these two Cumbrian schools have supported us with introducing their pupils to Nepal through the curriculum as well as twinning with Bal Bigyan and Sramik schools. Now, they have both made donations to us following fundraising efforts including Fair Trade sales, a coffee morning and a domino drive. From Haverigg School we received £241 and from StJames School £238 and in each case the children of the school decided how they would like their money to be spent. Sramik School will receive 1500 exercise books, 20 school bags and enough drinking water for 115 children for about 6 weeks. Bal Bigyan school will receive “half a teacher” for a year! Some of these decisions need a little more explanation, especially the drinking water and half a teacher and we will report on this during our Kathmandu visit in May.
